Man, I might have found a pose I dislike more than headstand. And I often contemplate getting "I HATE HEADSTAND" printed on my yoga top, running in reverse order so you could read it when I was upside-down. (I actually was kind of proud of my first selamba shirshasana tonight, and then sucked on the next one.) It's virasana. Now, last year sensei decided to work towards padmasana. I *like* lotus. (Not coincidentally, I can *do* padmasana.) This year, she has decided it's virasana.
Now, this is not really a pose in my repertoire, but, hey, I'm willing to try things. But, OMG. First time, I thought my knees were likely to fall off. So then next time I tried it with the full complement of props, (which I normally disdain, because I came from a more ashtanga background and think these Iyengar types get ludicrous with the props), and, my gods, *ow*. This *kills* my knees. (Why the hell is it called hero's pose? Do most heroes have dislocated knees?)
So I went and looked it up on yoga journal, (have I raved about the detailed pose pages on their site? Because I think they're pretty effing awesome), and I don't seem to be doing it wrong. But...my legs fall asleep, my knees hurt, and last week I actually went and counted the number of weeks left in the year. Because OMG. We are going to start *every* class with this. And we hold it for approximately forever. *dies*
Tonight was all inversions, and...argh.
i LOVE your t-shirt idea.
